Awhile back we asked the boys what they wanted to see before we left Germany. They said the Eiffel Tower and London. We decided to make plans to go there for spring break. We made a few concrete reservations early on, but left a lot of the details until the last few weeks. Huge Mistake!!! In the interim something happened that made the world turn upside down and the cost of everything skyrocket. You may know it as the Royal Wedding. That’s right. Only a week to go until the big day and we are in London!! Let me just give an example of what I mean. We are paying about 300 quid to stay in a dive-of-a-place for three nights in Kilburn, a neighborhood a bit out of the way. Our final night we decided to stay in town. One night will cost us $300.
We started our trip by flying to Paris and spending two nights there. (I like Paris. Andy complained it is too expensive.) This morning we took the Chunnel train from Paris to London. The Chunnel is a great innovation. It beats navigating through an airport. Plus, you can take with you multiple large, heavy bags at no extra cost, a full bottle of shampoo, and you don’t have to wear your seatbelt while seated.
