Mind the Gap

Today we went to watch the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. By the time we got there, we were already worn out. The subway line to Kilburn was “severely delayed” due to two freak incidents. We had to take the bus into town, which took a lot longer.

At the Palace, there were already a million people there en masse and we were squashed into the crowd. It was really hot. Where is the famous English grey skies and rain?? Gus complained, “We came all the way here for this???!!!”

In the evening paper we saw that thousands of people were trapped in the Tube for hours in sweltering heat because of the problems. The delays were still significant for the evening rush hour, and even though we thought we had outsmarted the system, it still took forever to get back to Kilburn.
