Cinque Terre

After our cruise, we decided to stay in Italy a little longer. We figured it wasn’t worth driving all the way through the country and through all the tolls to get back to that area just to see a few things (Pisa and the Cinque Terre).  It was about 2 1/2 hours from Savona to get to Pisa.  We stayed in some military lodging at Camp Darby. Our cabin on the base was equipped with electricity, heating, water, shower, bathroom, tv, fridge, and microwave. It would comfortably sleep 5 people, had two bedrooms and a pullout sleeper sofa and a dinner table,  BBQ, patio table and picnic table.  It was deserted and cold, but still very nice. Camp Darby is about 15 minutes from the city of Pisa, and the Leaning Tower.  There is an airport in Pisa about 10 minutes away. It is about an hour from the national park of the Cinque Terre, which is accessible by train.  It was nice to be close to military facilities again, and to have some room for the boys to run around and be boys.  We really recommend the area, and the military lodging if you are able to utilize it.
