Alicante, Spain

The next stop on our cruise was one of the ‘substitute’ stops to make up for missing our other two choice destinations. It turns out that this was probably our favorite stop on all of the cruise.  It was, to us, the least touristy, and had the least to recommend it as far as a world tourism destination.  Perhaps that’s why we liked it best. Or maybe it was because it had the most sunshine, the best weather, and everyone was healthy.

We took an open-air bus around the city and up to the fortress on the hill where the view was spectacular.  You could see our ship, and we saw a parade in the distance.  There were plenty of pit mines off in the hills.  The perfectly round arena is for bullfighting, which we hope to catch one sometime before we move.

You may have noticed that there aren’t many photos of Gus.   You can ask him about it sometime.
